I too bought the electric kit from either Rick's or Classic and although they work I had to notch the core support to clear the motors and I still can't get the DS door perfect - I will have it where it looks great, it opens and closes a few times and right back where it was. Maybe I'll go back in and look at the core support mod like you talk about. Not to hijack but is there a kit that works with the standard fenders without changing to the RS brackets?
I am of the opinion that the choice is somewhat dependent on the year.
It had DSE assemblies and I wasn't real happy with fitment on my 69.

The main problem is that far more standard Camaros were built compared to those with the RS option. The DSE setup is reputed to be a bit of a mess on the 67s.
Sure, its possible to convert from standard to RS, but until fairly recently it meant hunting for all the parts, dinking with vacuum-actuated doors, and modifying fenders.
